My biggest passion is film photography, the purely mechanical nature of recording an image. I love using vintage cameras, where your skill determines the quality of the photograph and not the camera.
When shooting on film, taking the time, rationing you’re shots and knowing once it clicked you did your best, that awe once again when you’ve developed the film and see the image there how you wanted it, then seeing it printed on photo paper.
It’s like your hunting for photos in the wild.
Digital doesn’t come close to that wonder.
It still has its place however, it offers speed and quantity which is ever so desired in today’s world. It is especially useful in documentary where taking a shot quickly is more important for which film is not as versatile.
I document the world in film first and digital second.
Veronica le Roux
I started painting in South Afr. Received my first training there in oil painting techniques.
I do landscapes, people and fantasy art. To me, it’s a method of relaxing. I’m mostly self-trained and my painting reflects my mood.
If one is not interested in the subject it won’t be completed. One has to want to finish it to do a great job.
I paint mostly female characters and associate with the characters it represents. My passion lies in my association with the characters I paint.
There is something personal in every painting or drawing I do. I utilise images as guidance but everyone reflects my interpretation.
Through my art, I try to instil a love in my children… Each of them has their own personality and direction.
Without a live/ passion for art you won’t be able to produce any works.
Robert my co-exhibitor in photography and my youngest daughter in pencil drawings.
