Funding | Artist in the Community Scheme New Award for Recent Graduates 2019
Are you an artist working collaboratively with a community? Are you an artist or community group with an interest in working on a collaborative, socially engaged project?
Twice yearly, the Arts Council offers awards to enable artists and communities of place and/or interest to work together on projects. The Artist in the Community Scheme (AIC) is managed by Create.
The AIC scheme is open to artists from any of the following artform disciplines: architecture, circus, street art and spectacle, dance, film, literature (Irish and English language), music, opera, theatre, visual arts and traditional arts. Projects can take place in a diverse range of social and community contexts, for example healthcare contexts, prisons, community development organisations.
This year, Create, who manage the AIC Scheme on behalf of the Arts Council, are pleased to announce an additional award for Recent Graduates of an undergraduate arts degree programme.
Recent Graduate artists are defined as those of any age, who have graduated from an undergraduate degree programme in the arts in the past three years and are interested in developing or exploring, or are establishing a professional career in collaborative arts practice. This award specifically targets emerging artists / practitioners who have completed their undergraduate degree and who are not in postgraduate studies at the time of the award. The maximum award is €2,500 of which a maximum of €750 is specifically to cover the cost of engaging a mentor. The time frame should be no longer than 5 months.
