Tinka Bechert was born and raised in Berlin and has lived in Ireland for more than two decades showing her work extensively across Europe, The UK, and Ireland. Tinka Becherts work is represented in many private and public collections such as the Irish Office of Public Works, the Central Art Archives
in Berlin, Germany and Tate Britain, London.
Although her main occupation is painting in its infinitely seductive materiality, she engages this very specific medium in an open artistic inquiry nourished through the cross-pollination of ideas, techniques and disciplines. Intertwined with and departing from her painting practice, Tinka Bechert has worked on inter-disciplinary collaborations with scientific institutions such as the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW), Neues Museum Berlin and the Institute for Advanced Study (HWK, Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg). In Ireland she has also created a physics-research driven project with Priors PLM as part of the Leitrim County Council Spark Residency Program.
The latest painting highlights include publication of a comprehensive monograph, a nomination for the BEEP Painting Prize, showing her work at the New York Painting Center and a major solo show of new paintings with her Berlin Gallery (Galerie Gerken) kindly supported by Culture Ireland.
