Get Together 2026: Call for Panellists

VAI is pleased to invite individual panel contributions for Get Together 2026, Ireland’s annual networking event for visual artists, which will take place at TU Dublin, Grangegorman, on Friday 11 September 2026.

The general thematic for this year’s event is Sustaining Your Visual Art Career: From Emerging to Established Practice.

Submission Brief:

We welcome submissions from individuals (artists, researchers, curators, and directors of resource organisations) at all career stages who are based in Ireland or internationally. Applicants are invited to outline their area of focus and proposed contribution, which should include a ten-minute presentation relating to one of the following themes:

Emerging Practice
We welcome proposals from early career visual artists, as well as from professionals supporting emerging practice through: funding and/or exhibition opportunities; workspaces and other resources; professional development training and/or mentorship.
Mid-Career Practice
We welcome proposals from mid-career visual artists, as well as from professionals supporting mid-career practice through: funding and/or exhibition opportunities; workspaces and other resources; professional development training.
Established Practice
We welcome proposals from established visual artists, as well as from professionals supporting established practice through: funding and/or exhibition opportunities; workspaces and other resources; legacy planning and archives.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions should be from individual speakers (artists, researchers, curators, and other arts professionals ) who should outline their area of focus and proposed contribution, which should include a ten-minute presentation responding to one of the three themes outlined above.
Submissions should be in English and should not exceed 3,000 characters.
Please include your contact information and a brief professional biography (1,000 characters).
Submissions must use the form provided below. No other formats will be accepted.
Selected panellists will present during dedicated sessions at Get Together 2026.
Selected panellists may be asked to modify or rework specific ideas or areas of interest.
VAI retains the right not to select from the received submissions.

Successful applicants will be awarded €350 for their presentation and panel contribution, to include all associated costs.

Accuracy: By submitting a proposal, you affirm that all information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Any inaccuracies found post-submission may result in disqualification or reevaluation of your proposal.

Authorship: All authors listed on the proposal must have made significant contributions to the research and agree to be listed. Any disputes regarding authorship must be resolved before submission. Misrepresentation of authorship may lead to rejection or withdrawal of the proposal.

Right to Reproduce: By submitting the proposal, you grant the reviewing committee and VAI the right to reproduce, distribute, and display the proposal for the purpose of evaluation and review. This includes the right to share the proposal with external reviewers and collaborators. If successful, you grant VAI the right to reproduce, distribute and display the presentation content and images of the event.

Plagiarism: The proposal must be original work, and any use of others’ work must be properly cited. Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification and may have further consequences as per the institution’s academic integrity policies.

Confidentiality: The reviewing committee will treat the proposal and its contents with confidentiality. However, the institution cannot guarantee complete confidentiality, especially during the review process.

Compliance: Submission of the proposal implies compliance with all relevant policies and regulations regarding copyright and authorship.

Revision and Withdrawal: You may revise or withdraw your proposal before the submission deadline. Once submitted, revisions may not be allowed, or additional requirements may apply.

Acceptance: Submission of the proposal does not guarantee acceptance for presentation or publication. The decision of the reviewing committee is final.
