Get Together Recordings | Sustaining Your Practice – Mary A. Kelly, Geraldine O’Reilly, Nick Miller and Susan MacWilliam
Get Together 2020 has been postponed due to Covid-19 and we hope to reschedule the event in Spring 2021. In the meantime you might enjoy listening to some recordings of talks from previous events.
In this panel discussion, chaired by Mary A. Kelly, established Irish artists Geraldine O’Reilly, Nick Miller and Susan MacWilliam discuss the practical, creative and career challenges of sustaining your practice in mid and late career, and testing assumptions about how artists’ needs change as their careers develop.
This was recorded at Get Together 2017, 15 September at IMMA.
All recordings available on Soundcloud and in the Members Area of the website.
About Get Together
Get Together is Ireland’s National Day for Visual Artists. This annual event is geared towards all visual artists and offers the chance to meet other practicing artists and curators, engage in discussions on what impacts artists and make new connections with people working in galleries and arts organisations all over Ireland.
The programme includes panel discussions on a rage of topics, “Artists Speak” with artists speaking about their work, the development of their careers and their own personal experience as professional visual artists, “Speed Curating” where artists can book meetings with curators to introduce them to their work, “Clinics” with experts to discuss a wide range of issues on a one-to-one basis. All of this surrounding the Visual Artists Café, where arts organisations and artists support agencies gather to provide information about their services as well as a place to perch and catch up with friends old and new.
