Gabhann Dunne

Short Bio

Gabhann Dunne is a Dublin-based painter working mostly with oils. Environment, history and place feature prominently in his work.

Dunne has a MFA from NCAD and BA (Fine Arts) from DIT. He is a former winner of the RDS Taylor Art Award (2011) and the Hennessy Craig Scholarship/the Whytes Award for Painting at the RHA (2009).

Dunne has exhibited widely. Solo shows include: Committed to Falling, West Cork Arts Centre, 2020; Crossing the Salt, Farmleigh House, 2019 and Limerick City Gallery, 2018; In the Presence of Birds, Molesworth Gallery, Dublin, 2017; Magenta Honey, the Lab, Dublin, 2015; The Wavemaker’s Vision, the Rubicon, Dublin, 2012 and The Crossing, the Roscommon Arts Centre, 2012. Group shows include: Dearly Beloved (2019); Eigse (2016); The Fold (2012) all at the VISUAL, Carlow.

His work is in key collections: Office of Public Works; Savilles; Facebook (commission); De Loitte, Mason Hayes Curran; Law Society of Ireland; XL Art Collection; the Residency and the National Self-Portrait Collection of Ireland, National University of Limerick.

Dunne is represented by the Molesworth Gallery.
