Emer Lynch (Independent)
I am an independent visual art curator based between Ireland and Switzerland. Selected curatorial projects include commissioning of new work in glass by Salvatore of Lucan, Dublin and Biel (upcoming, 2021); performative events with art collective The Enquiry exploring dematerialisation and decentralised audience engagement, AC Institute, NYC (2019); ‘Tables and chairs and other people’, an international group exhibition installed throughout Lynders Mobile Home Park, Resort Revelations II, Fingal CoCo (2016); and visual art spoken word series Foaming at the Mouth, co-curated with Tracy Hanna, Dublin and Amsterdam (2014-2016). I recently wrote for VAN Critique and VAN Column (both 2020).
I hold an MA Visual Arts Practices, Curation (IADT, 2013), and since then obtained institutional and commercial gallery experience, including: Audience & Programme Development, aemi (current); Curatorial Assistant, Collections, IMMA (2017-2020); Artist Liaison, mother’s tankstation (2015-2017); Assistant Curator of Visual Arts, Project Arts Centre (2014-2015).

My interests include:
– experimental programming
– the role of art amidst climate concerns, and investigating specific materials in contemporary art
– multi-faceted, playful & genre-bending approaches to art-making, curating, research and writing, including performative presentations of traditionally static forms
– testing non-traditional sites and contexts for exhibition and presenting art
– developing ways for audiences to engage with artworks, events and exhibitions
