Julia Moustacchi (Independent)

Julia Moustacchi is an Arts Manager and Curator based in Dublin, who is a graduate from the MA in Cultural Policy and Arts Management in UCD (2018).

She is currently working as Public Engagement Curator for the Dublin City Council programme Sculpture Dublin. She also works with Dublin City Arts Office to coordinate Visual Thinking Strategies programmes.

Julia is co-director of the visual art organisation Basic Space, which recently produced an exhibition funded by the Arts Council: ‘On Belonging’ in The Library Project (June 2021). Julia curated ‘Unassembled’ (The LAB Gallery, 2020) with the Art + Research Collaboration MA in IADT and she co-curated ‘I Slept Like A Stone’ with curator Sheena Barrett (The LAB Gallery, 2018).

Curator’s Areas of Interest:

Julia is interested in immersive and interactive art, including participative artworks. She is highly concerned about the engagement aspect of a piece, and how the public receives it. Julia is drawn to visual art that mixes with other artforms, as well as site-specific works that respond to a particular place and context.
