‘The function of Y – mysterious objects from the Celtic Iron Age in the Hunt Museum’

Join us for a talk with Cathy Swift, an Irish studies specialist.
Celtic related art styles spread across Europe during the later Iron age. In Ireland, these styles appear on objects which, in form and function, cannot be paralleled elsewhere. The most mysterious and perhaps intriguing of these may well be “Y-shaped objects” often found with bridle bits. The Hunt Museum is fortunate to have an example of these and this talk attempts to place the group within the cultural context of later Iron Age Ireland and Europe.
Free admission.
