Humanism in process: Female Performance Artists at Work | Workshops, Performances and Talks, Belfast

6 to 11 May

Humanism in process: Female Performance Artists at Work No.2 – a feminist art and activism week with Mónica Mayer involving Workshops, Performances, Talks and Roundtable discussions.

The second part of this project, 6-11 May, will feature Mónica Mayer and her project El Tendedero/The Clothesline. This an important example of how she transforms the clothesline, a traditionally feminine object, into a tool designed to engage the community and facilitate a dialogue around women’s experience with violence—including topics such as sexual harassment, domestic violence, and trafficking. Monica has been addressing these issues since the late 70’s, so is an early example of the MeToo movement.
