Job Vacancy | Painting Conservator at The National Gallery of Ireland

The Gallery wishes to recruit a Painting Conservator in the Conservation Department on a fixed-term basis. The purpose of this role is to support the activities of the Conservation Department. This includes research, treatments, assessment and monitoring of the Gallery’s collection of works on canvas and on panel. Reporting to the Head of Conservation, the Paintings Conservator will:

  • Carry out preventive and full scale conservation treatments
  • Condition check and report on works on canvas, panels, frames, incoming and outgoing loans
  • Liaise with conservation staff and curators regarding conservation procedures of work for treatments
  • Keep and maintain reports on all treatments undertaken
  • Contribute to the success of the department through continuous professional development and participation in departmental meetings
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines
  • Carry out other duties as and when required

Grade and Salary: Salary will be in accordance with point 1 of the Assistant Keeper II / Engineer Grade III Salary Scale (PPC), currently €30,987 per annum
Duration: 9 month fixed-term Contract
Working hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
