The Schools of Visual Arts at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts are looking for a dedicated artist to take on a professorship in conceptual and contextual practices for a new MFA programme at the Schools of Visual Arts. The successful applicant will commence work on 1 September 2017.

The new programme constitutes one of four international MFA programmes at the Schools. The programme focuses on contextual and discursive practices with a particular interest in social, performative and critical art forms within contemporary art.

The new programme merges two existing programmes (The School of Walls and Space and the School of Language, Space and Scale)

The new School/programme will accommodate approximately 25 students on its three-year MFA programme. The School will be housed at Charlottenborg, where the students have their studios and where parts of the teaching will take place.

About this position
As professor you hold overall responsibility for directing study under this programme, for ensuring the quality of the teaching offered, and for ensuring the students’ opportunities for artistic development through supervision and guidance. As professor you will also be responsible for outlining, defining and expressing the School’s artistic and academic profile in collaboration with the students.

The professor will be part of the overall faculty of the Schools of Visual Arts. Thus, the professor will take part in/contribute to the various strategic forums that develop the Schools’ profile, teaching and overall planning (The Study Council/Skolerådet and the Steering Committee/Styregruppe). The professor may also take part in the joint endeavours pertaining to the day-to-day operation of the Schools (the Staff-Student Study Committee/Studienævnet). The professor will also take part in the joint admission procedures for new students. The professor can be appointed as Pro-rector.

The professor’s duties include artistic research. This research takes its point of departure in the professor’s own artistic practice. You can draw on the Schools’ laboratories and library to support your research.
