Job Purpose
Lead the development of the partnership working initiated by the Joint Management Committee (JMC) which brings together the historic Coniston Institute, (www.conistoninstitute.uk), The Ruskin Museum (www.ruskinmuseum.com) and the contemporary art organisation Grizedale Arts (www.grizedale.org) and its residency base Lawson Park farm (www.lawsonpark.org)

The organisations are all dedicated to developing and creating an entity that will impact on the social, economic and cultural conditions of the valley communities, and to finding visionary new ways to bring the historic, social and contemporary cultures into productive partnership.

Underpinning the ethos of all 3 organisations is a belief in education as the principle mode for community development – an idea that has a long history in the Institute building and the museum’s namesake John Ruskin. The project has the potential to develop new ways of thinking and working for the cultural and education sector creating innovative blueprints drawn from this historic and inspirational place and combination of elements.

The post holder will develop a new umbrella organisation that retains the existing authenticity and core values of the organisations while re-presenting the programme in an international context as a leader in the field and a blueprint for future working that would have a resonance across the sectors. Our fundamental vision is about connecting communities and society initiating a creative and fulfilling way to living.

Salary is £35-40K negotiable
Expenses and operating costs to be agreed.
The post holder will need to be on site in the Lake District (UK) at least 3 days per week.
The role will sit independently as a consultancy position for a fixed 2 year term.
