Platform Commissions is an initiative to support the production of significant new works by artists based in Ireland. It invites the submission of proposals from artists for new artworks and projects through a simple and supported process.
Selected proposals will be offered financial and production support for the realisation and presentation of the new work as part of the upcoming biennial programme. EVA are accepting proposal submissions for Platform Commissions that will be selected by Anne Tallentire and Merve Elveren.
The 39th EVA International programme is being developed in reference to the ‘Golden Vein’, a popular 19th century descriptor for the bountiful pastures of the Limerick / Tipperary region in the mid-West of Ireland. The reference belongs to the historical perspective of seeing the land as a resource to be tapped, exploited, and commercialised through industrialised agricultural production and global trade. The Golden Vein is the starting point for thinking through ideas of land and its contested values within the context of Ireland today.
Phase 1: Submission of a summary proposal using EVA’s downloadable template, deadline 17:00 GMT, 10 December 2018;
Phase 2: Shortlisted artists will be notified on or before 25th January 2019. Successfully shortlisted artists will be awarded €200 to develop their proposals further. This allows for an additional stage of research, site visit, feasibility assessment, and further project visualisation, as required. EVA will provide administrative and production management support during this process;
Phase 3: Shortlisted artists resubmit their full proposals to the panel for final selection, deadline 17:00 GMT, 1st March 2019. Final proposals to be realised at the 39th EVA International will be announced by end of March 2019.
