Fergus Andrew Ryan, a finalist in this years Hennessy Portrait Prize is a realist painter born in Dublin in 1948. His finely-detailed paintings have been exhibited at the RHA and RUA, included in the OPW’s State collection, and featured in International Artist magazine.
Egg Tempera is one of the most beautiful of the mediums available to the artist, yet its exquisite qualities disappeared from the studio for almost five centuries. This two day workshop by Fergus A Ryan will trace egg tempera from Botticelli’s 15th-century Primavera to Andrew Wyeth’s evocative 20th-century landscapes and portraits, and introduce today’s painters to the materials and techniques of making an egg tempera painting from start to finish.
