Canadian based artist Kathleen Doody will facilitate two lantern making workshops in Listowel Community Centre from the 22nd to 24th August. These workshops will teach participants how to make a variety of different willow and wire lanterns from elaborate Swan Lanterns to very basic pyramid lanterns which kids of all ages can make.
This workshop is in preparation for the inaugural Féile an tSolais Festival of Light Lantern Parade which will take place on Friday 2nd November in Listowel.
Basic Lanterns take between 5 and 6 hours to make, and we ask that you are able to take your Lantern away with you at the end of the workshop as we are unable to store them. Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult, and it is recommended that you dress for mess.
For those wishing to make more elaborate wire lanterns we ask that you bring your own heavy gauge wire and cutters.
