By the end of this workshop participants should have the skills and confidence to be able to experiment with their preferred monoprint processes and incorporate this, where applicable, into their existing work. The emphasis for the workshop is for participants to learn through doing.
Brief history of monoprinting and its use by artists such as Klee and Matisse with visual examples. Participants will be introduced to several different monoprint techniques; subtraction, addition, use of stencils, creating textures and mark-making, painterly monoprints, montotypes and use of chine-collé and will be able to use the main part of each day’s session to practice their preferred techniques or combine some or all the processes demonstrated to develop unique monoprints.
