Introductory wire sculpture workshop provided by Glenn Gibson who has been creating wire sculptures for nearly two decades with many solo & group exhibitions showcasing his work, his work is now part of private & corporate collections around the world & has also been featured on television, in theatre & film. The classes are held in his studio/gallery No.4 on the outskirts of his home town Galway, a vibrant, cultural hub on the West Coast of Ireland. For those travelling from out of town accommodation can be arranged at local boutique hotel.
The 1st day begins with a demonstration of sculpting with wire and from there you will be given one on one instruction on the various techniques to craft a piece for yourself. You will then be guided through the process with practical demonstrations of the various elements of creating in wire. The small class sizes ensure that you are getting focused tuition.
All materials and tools are provided for you, raw steel wire for your project and the use of studio tools while working in the class, so you can create a small project to take home at the end of the two day course. There will also be additional materials and tools for you to purchase and bring home if you would like to continue with your creative journey with wire.
Coffee, tea, water and morning snacks will be provided and there are local options for lunch within walking distance or alternatively you can bring your own. Safety glasses and gloves will be provided and you are asked to wear long sleeve top and ensure legs and feet are covered.
