Details of a funded project-based position for MA (tracker to PhD) at LSAD. The research project concerns the comparative development of intentional communites in the mid-West region of Ireland in pre-20th century and post- 20th century periods; as intitiatives that respond to economic and environmental demands specific to the periods in question from a utopian perspective.
This is a practice-based research position based in lens-based media that involves site-specific work, community engagement, and extensive research in the national archives. The candiate will be expected to respond to the Ralahine site in East Clare and the Cloughjordan site in North Tipperary, by way of exploring the resonance these initiatives now have for the mid-West region in particular. The purpose of the MA by Research is to explore – specifically – the impact these initiatives have had on the socio-economic identity of the region today.
