Cork Film Centre (Ballincollig, Co. Cork) is a resource-based organisation, focused on developing, promoting and facilitating people working creatively in the medium of the moving image. To this end Cork Film Centre supports and provides access to resources for filmmakers, artists, animators, and those wishing to use emerging technologies.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
• Developing and managing a project with the director and other staff members
• Camera and Sound recording
• Video and Sound Editing
• Interacting with community groups and general public
The successful candidate will have basic Camera and Sound recording skills, Digital Editing skills (preferably with some knowledge of Final Cut X software), and have a keen interest in new technology. Good interpersonal skills are essential.
They will work with current staff, at first by working under their direction, and, as the year progresses, becoming capable of completing projects on their own.
Training will be given in the new technology areas of Final Cut X, Soundtrack Pro (sound edit), DVD Studio Pro, and Adobe After Effects.

The aim of the scheme is to provide continuous training with experience over a 12-month period to a prospective documentary filmmaker. The project will allow people who are unemployed gain training in an area that is striving to develop its infrastructure with skilled workers. The project will use state of the art video edit and sound edit equipment and technologies, and will have the benefit of professional supervisors on hand to assist the participant in achieving their goals.
