Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is Kingston’s longest running dynamic artist-run space, led by a dedicated group of artists, curators and educators. They are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join their team. The Artistic Director works on behalf of the board, staff and members of Modern Fuel, in consultation with the Programming Committee, to develop and administer Modern Fuel’s exhibitions and public programs. The main responsibilities of this position are to oversee our two exhibition spaces (the Main Gallery and State of Flux Gallery), coordinate public programming, and secure funding. The Artistic Director works with the Operations Director to write grants, perform local and national outreach, and foster a dynamic, accessible artist-run space.
The Artistic Director implements programming and fulfills the duties of the role of co-director of the Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre. The Artistic Director reports to the Board of Directors, shares management duties with the Operations Director, and leads the implementation of artistic programming activities at Modern Fuel. In addition to supporting, facilitating, and implementing the multi-disciplinary artistic programming at Modern Fuel, the position exists to maintain a sense of vision and relevance to the programming at the Centre.
Salary: $33,000 (CAD) annually with benefits
