Following Kehinde Wiley and the Black Rock programme in Dakar, a new residence is opening in Marrakech for visual artists, researchers and curators from the African continent and its diaspora, whose research or production project is connected to the continent.
The programme launched by the contemporary art museum MACAAL (Musée d’Art Contemporain Africain Al Maaden) will offer stays lasting from one to three months.
Applicants must be over 21 years of age and speak English, Arabic or French.
MACAAL will support:
– round-trip transportation to the residence site
– project financing according to a pre-approved budget
– residence grant award
– work space
– material and staff resources necessary to the implementation of the residence project
– access and introduction to the local cultural scene
