5 September, 11am to 12pm.
IMMA and Fulbright would like to invite interested artists to meet with Emma Loughney of Fulbright for an information session on how visual artists can apply for a Fulbright Scholarship in the US. Emma will be joined by artists Christine Mackey (The University of New Mexico, 2017/18) and Alan Phelan (The Rochester Institute of Technology, 1991), both artists are well positioned to offer different perspectives on the impact and resonance of a Fulbright Scholarship.
Emma will advise on navigating the application procedures and how to seek affiliation in the US which can lead to professional research opportunities with luminary arts organisations. Previous scholarships have taken place at The Whitney Independent Study Programme, MoMA, Boston College and the San Francisco Art Institute. Fulbright alumni include artists such as Gerard Byrne, Alan Phelan, Christine Mackey, Katie Holten, Alice Maher and Clare Langan amongst others.
For many years Fulbright has supported opportunities for artists to live and work for periods of up to 9 months in the US. Fulbright scholarships have huge potential for visual arts practitioners, this is a great opportunity to discover professional avenues to live and work in the US for a focused period of time with eligibility ranging from postgraduate students to experienced visual arts practitioners.
