Wednesday 24 May, 2pm
The Artist as Witness uses the work of acclaimed Belgian artist Eugeen Van Mieghem as the starting point to discuss artists as witnesses to key events in society.
This half day seminar will look at the role of artists as witnesses to contemporary issues such as climate change, labour migration and globalisation. What is the responsibility of the artist and the art process and how can they meaningfully fulfil their role of witness?
These questions and more will be discussed by a range of experts in a half day event at Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane. Guest speakers will include Erwin Joos, Dr Niamh Ann Kelly, Alaina Clare Feldman and Prof. Declan McGonagle.
Admission is free but booking is essential: www.hughlane.ie/lectures/lectures-past/1727-portperspectiveseminar
