This final talk in the series surveys Salcedo’s most iconic works, is a keynote lecture on the work of Colombian artist Doris Salcedo by Tim Marlow, Artistic Director at the Royal Academy of Arts, London and Arts Broadcaster for television and radio.
Doris Salcedo’s exhibition Acts of Mourning presents an affecting assemblage of recent sculptures and installations by Salcedo for the first time in Ireland. This final talk in the series surveys some of the artist’s most influential works that came into prominence in the 1990s.
Marlow’s talk looks in detail at Salcedo’s laborious processes of making and research, her rigorous fieldwork with victims of violence or loss, in which to address how people and place are at the centre of her work.
