The Chimera Gallery will host a solo exhibition for Irish-Japanese artist Shane Berkery. Berkery currently has 3 streams of work. In the first, he works with photos from the 1950s and 60s taken by the Japanese side of his family. He translates into paint on canvas the feeling of nostalgia and transient memory that these photos evoke. In the second, the source images are personal photos in which the figures exude a quality of immediacy. The third consists of figure studies to better understand the language of anatomy. In all, the source image he works with demands his engagement and this is ultimately what he would like his paintings to achieve.
