Medieval Bindings Workshop with Éilís Murphy at the National Print Museum

Create your own medieval journal with bookbinder Éilís Murphy. In this workshop, participants will create a Limp Leather binding. Journeymen in Europe used this style of book during medieval times for account-keeping. This sturdy structure with decorative stitching along the spine makes an excellent sketchbook or notebook. You will gain knowledge of how to use book binding tools and the basic principles of bookbinding. Please bring along any decorative paper or buttons/ties that you would like to incorporate into your book. Suitable for beginners.
