Membership Fees & Entitlements
All Professional and Associate members are entitled to:
Avail of all Visual Artists Ireland services, facilities and resources
Receive the Visual Artists’ News Sheet (VAN) by post (6 issues per year)
Include your portfolio and contact info on our website in our Arts Directory
Be included on the Visual Artists Ireland database and receive mail-shots of events and opportunities
Rent projector and camera equipment and utilise in-house resources at subsidised rates
Receive a membership card, which entitles you to discounts at a wide range of art material suppliers and service providers
A reduction on fees charged for workshops and events including the Get Together
Free access to informal membership evenings and online events (screenings, Show & Tell, etc.)
Access to Webinar Recordings on a wide range of Lifelong Learning topics
Members logo/stamp to include on your website or CV
Propose artists projects such as symposia, seminars, VAN articles or workshops to the Visual Artists Ireland Executive
Membership Rates
There are two levels of membership for individual artists based in Ireland and Northern Ireland: Professional and Associate. Whether an artist qualifies for Professional or Associate is based on the 7 Criteria in the application form: Professional (meeting 3 or more of the membership criteria) and Associate (for artists not yet meeting 3 criteria).
Professional Member Euro – €50 standard / €25 concession – for unwaged/student/OAP
Associate Member Euro – €50 standard / €25 concession – for unwaged/student/OAP
Overseas Member Euro – €70
Friend Entitlements
If you are not an artist you can support the VAI by becoming a Friend of Visual Artists Ireland. Friends are entitled to:
Receive the Visual Artists’ News Sheet by post (6 issues per year)
Receive the Visual Artists Ireland eBulletin on a twice weekly basis
Access to equipment rental service
Free access to informal membership evenings (screenings, Show & Tell, etc.)
Acknowledgement in the Friends area of our site.

Organisation Entitlements
Organisations can support VAI by signing up for our organisational rate. Benefits include:
Receive 50 copies of each issue of the the Visual Artists’ News Sheet (6 issues per year)
Receive the Visual Artists Ireland eBulletin on a twice weekly basis
Access to equipment rental service
Include your portfolio and contact info on our website in our Arts Directory
Be included on the Visual Artists Ireland database and receive mail-shots of events and opportunities
Benefits include the opportunity to work with Visual Artists Ireland’s Professional Development Programme.
A one-off profile of your organisation featured in the Visual Artists News Sheet
Free access to informal membership evenings (screenings, Show & Tell, etc.)
Acknowledgement in our Friends and Organisational supporters section of our website.
Organisation Member Euro – €180 Sterling – £162
Professional members are also entitled to:
Vote at the AGM
Nominate professional members for election on to the Board of Directors
Stand for election to the Board of Directors
Propose items for the AGM agenda
Act as a VAI nominated artist on commission/selection panels
Professional Membership card accepted by Social Welfare as proof of professional artist status
All members are requested to review all VAI governance policies before joining or renewing and agree to abide by them as a condition of membership.
Visual Artists Ireland members can also apply for memberships of other organisations as follows:
IVARO is the Irish Visual Artists Rights Organisation. IVARO is a rights management organisation that collects and distributes royalties due to its members for the use of their work. It also provides free information and advice on copyright issues. You can join IVARO by visiting the membership page of their website here. Membership of IVARO is free. By joining IVARO you mandate the organisation to represent you in relation to your copyright.
IAA is the International Association of Art. It is a UNESCO initiated global network of visual artists representative organisations. Visual Artists Ireland is the Irish representative within the IAA. The IAA issues an artists card through its national committees, which can be used to gain reduced or free entrance into some of the major museums and galleries around the world. The card is only available to professional members, its costs €5 and is valid from date of issue until the end of the current year. You can get an IAA card by ticking the appropriate box on the application form.
