Creating & curating spaces (thinking outside the box)
One of the most common questions we get is “how can I get an exhibition?”
Networking and building a relationship with galleries is important but may take several years to pay off. Open calls might only select 10% of submissions.
The approach we will look at here is to think outside the box and create your own exhibitions.
Tonya McMullan (PRIME Collective and Bathhouse Belfast) will talk about her own experiences in creating coherent, intelligent group and solo exhibitions in non-traditional spaces such as underground car parks, inside shops, on the streets or as social media projects.
Artists can successfully get noticed by producing self-curated solo or group exhibitions with their peers; this workshop will deal with both the planning and delivery of such projects.
Recorded on 11 February 2021.
This event was held in partnership with South Dublin County Council Arts Office.
