New Website

VAI-Logo-BW-Words-MediumAs you may notice we are in the middle of completing our new website.  We have redesigned the entire site to make even more information easily available to artists and organisations. The new site sees the introduction of The Manual: A Survival Guide for Visual Artists. This section offers a wide range of information and advice. Also, we have made information on Jobs, Opportunities, Funding, Exhibitions, Previews, and our Advocacy information easier to access.

We have been conscious of costs with our redevelopment. For that reason we have undertaken all of the work in-house. This means that images and some sections are still being updated, but we felt that we could not take the site down for an extended period. We will continue with the updates over the next days and ask that if you find any area of specific concern then send a mail to so that we can look at it.

For the techies amongst you… one of the other reasons for change is to ensure that the site is suitable for the wide range of devices in use today. The theme is responsive. This allows a website to break itself down smoothly across multiple monitor sizes, screen resolutions, and platforms, be it a computer, tablet or mobile device. It allows the developer to create a site that is optimised for each platform, both in navigation, readability and load time. As you can see when resizing the window (if you are viewing this site on a computer), the layout of the page shifts depending on the size of the screen; with different layouts for content depending on viewing area.

We hope to be able to prepare a full technical document concerning the development so as to allow artists and organisations understand what can be achieved using a very limited budget. Having received quotes ranging from €9,000 to €55,000 we are proud that we have limited our spending to €500.
