Next Week | Artist Talk: Connolly Cleary and The Eco SHOWBOAT (17 Feb, free for VAI members)

Following on from our January webinar The Ethical Artist with John Thorne from the Glasgow School of Art, we continue the conversation of how we can make a meaningful impact for the environment through our practice.

In our upcoming VAI Visual Artists Café event we hear from School of Looking artists Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly on their impressive Eco SHOWBOAT project, an ambitious multi annual project to travel on a solar electric boat on the inland waterways of Ireland to raise awareness of climate change through the arts.

They will set off from Limerick on the May Bank Holiday weekend 2022, to navigate the whole length of the Shannon and beyond, from Limerick to Enniskillen, in a solar electric boat – working with local artists and meeting with scientists, ecologists and communities along the way. The journey will take place on the Mayfly, a vintage yacht upgraded to be fully sustainable in energy with the installation of over a kilowatt of solar panels, batteries and an electric marine motor. Funded through the Arts Council Open Call Award 2020.

The event is open to all to book but provided free of charge to VAI members.

Join us at 3pm on Thursday 17 February for this Artist Talk to hear more. Book Now!
