Have you previously undertaken Child Protection Training? If not, then this is the session will provide you with certified basic Child Protection Training through the National Youth Council of Ireland’s (NYCI) Children First Programme.
This session is aimed at artists who work with Children and Young People through a range of media including visual arts, music, literature, dance, theatre and film. In particular of interest for artists working in schools but also other contexts such as workshops in libraries and community settings and public art projects that involve engagement with Children and Young People.
Format The NYCI Children First Child Protection Awareness Programme is the basic awareness course developed for staff and volunteers working with young people, and is the recognised training programme for the youth work sector. The course is delivered through tutor input, group discussion and exercises. The session covers the following topics:
Legislation and policy
Values and attitudes
Reasonable grounds for concerns
Dealing with disclosures
Code of behaviour – working safely with young people
Scenarios
Tom Kent is Director of Programmes with YMCA Ireland. Tom began his career in the Tourism Industry and went on to join YMCA Ireland in 2006. He has extensive experience in training & development and managing quality control systems. His primary role is running the YMCA STEP programme across 5 centres in the Republic of Ireland.
