Application deadline: 15 April, 5pm
126 Artist-Run Gallery invite submissions of works in any medium by artists within our membership for the 10th Annual 126 members’ show, which will be held in both 126 Gallery in Galway and The Western Carolina University (WCU) Fine Art Museum, USA. This open call is particularly exciting as we will also offer one of our members a month-long residency opportunity at WCU in October of this year.
This year ‘innovation’ will be the basis for selection: some of the most respected artists in history were innovators and through developing new techniques and new styles, they were able to enhance art by making expression easier, clearer, or more recognisable. The starting point, the ‘brainchild’, is the product of one’s creative effort and this year 126 simply ask that work is new, experimental, fresh, and innovative with the intention of pushing boundaries within the art world.
From the members selected for Brainchild 126 will then choose one artist to spend a month-long residency in WCU to develop their ideas further. 126 will cover travel, accommodation, and will offer a small stipend to cover some additional costs. Please specify in your application if the residency is NOT of interest to you (this will not affect your submission).
Applications are accepted from artists with active 126 membership. Membership can be purchased/renewed at www.126.ie or contact us at the gallery. To apply: please send a statement of intent (approx 300 words), artist CV, and relevant links/images of your work (up to 10 images), in one PDF to email@example.com. Selected work must be delivered to the gallery on or before the 20th April 2017.
