Open Call | Art in Odd Places (AiOP) 2019: INVISIBLE, New York
Telephone call application: Saturday 18 May, 12 am-11:59 pm ONLY
Art in Odd Places (AiOP) 2019: INVISIBLE scheduled for October 17-20 curated by LuLu LoLo invites proposals for its fifteenth annual public art and performance festival taking place along 14th Street in Manhattan, NY – from Avenue C to the Hudson River.
Art in Odd Places 2019: INVISIBLE seeks imaginative proposals by artists who are sixty years old and older including various forms of intergenerational collaboration that actively engage the public.
In line with the concept INVISIBLE, artists are asked to remain unseen and only heard in their telephone call application.
Artists may propose one idea from two different options:
An individual performance or visual artwork in an odd place on 14th Street.
Participation in the Promenade of Visual Flâneurs parading the length of 14th Street on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 by the older artist or their proxy.
AiOP provides artists with promotion to a wide network of press and art world contacts, a website presence (with project info, bio, and personal web link), listing in the AiOP program. They can also help in the following ways: introductions to local business- owners and other community partners, letters of support for artists who need visas, and letters of support for artists who are interested in applying for individual grants. Selected artists will work with the curator and curatorial assistants to determine project locations.
AiOP does not provide: fiscal support, permits, insurance, security. Artists are themselves responsible for securing any necessary permissions and all logistics.
