Application deadline: 5 April.
Rathfarnham Educate Together National School has been selected by the Arts Council as a Creative School and is inviting applications for a pilot artist in residence project. They are offering a studio space for an artist to develop their own practice and they also envisage that there will be opportunities for the artist to engage with the students and staff.
It is their vision to create an on-site studio which will become a work space for a resident artist. Inspired by models such as Room 13 and the atelier at Reggio Emilia pre-schools, they hope that the artist will become integral to the life of the school. Observing and engaging with an artist will challenge, inspire and bring fresh learning opportunities to our community.
Rathfarnham Educate Together is a co-educational, child-centred, equality based, and democratically run school. They place the child at the centre of the educational process, ‘respecting and celebrating the different and unique identities of all’.
The available room is on the ground floor, with large windows and has easy access to the outdoors. The studio will be accessible during the school day, out of hours and at weekends. It would suit a visual artist and will run from late April to August 2019, possibly extending into 2020.
To apply please send a cover email stating your suitability to the project, a Curriculum Vitae, five images of of your work, and website/URL links. The successful artist will be required to have Public Liability insurance cover, undertake Garda Vetting and to comply with the school’s Child Protection Policy. Please send to email@example.com using the subject heading AIR Studio.
