Open Call | Cruthú Arts Festival 2018, Longford

Closing date for submissions: 31 May

Cruthú Arts Festival is excited to be entering its fifth year in 2018 and as always, they want to bring a diverse collection of visual art to Longford as part of the festival.

They are now releasing an open call for artists to participate in the main event and programme. Cruthú are looking to incorporate a broad range of visual art forms, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, illustration, textile, mixed media and film.

Exhibiting artists will be able to take advantage of pop up gallery spaces located in vacant retail units situated throughout the town. These spaces can be used to display existing works, house specially designed installations or they can be transformed into unique conceptual spaces.

Cruthú Arts Festival 2018 takes place from Thursday 26th July to Sunday 29th July in Longford. Every year, they receive a fantastic response to this open call, resulting in an eclectic mix of visual art displays which are hugely anticipated by festival visitors.

Please note:
It will be the artists’ responsibility to prepare their exhibition spaces and to clear the space afterwards, leaving them in good condition on the Monday following the festival. Cruthu will provide some labour, paint and materials to assist in bringing temporary spaces up to exhibition standard. Artists must be in attendance and invigilate their own exhibition during the festival. There is no artist fee paid to exhibiting artists. There is a 10% commission on all sales made during the exhibition. Food and refreshments are provided for artists for the duration of the festival.

Artists who wish to apply for an exhibition space should send an email containing artist details, good quality images of the work to be displayed / proposals for installations and a link to artists portfolio. Email cruthuopencall18@gmail.com with subject ‘ Artist Open Call’.

While the festival will endeavour to facilitate as many artists as possible, the spaces are limited. Submissions will be evaluated by Cruthú Arts Festival Committee and the final selection will be contacted by email.
