Open Call | Dearcán Bursary at Benchspace Cork

Cork County Council Arts Service and South Cork Local Enterprise Office in conjunction with Benchspace Cork offers a bursary to any craft maker, artist or designer currently resident in County Cork working in the medium of wood, or wood in combination with other materials. The bursary will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to make a significant step forward in their professional career, whether they be recent graduate, new start-up or seasoned professional. To facilitate this, it will support a twelve month period in the Benchspace workshop in Cork City to include workshop fees, a living allowance and an allowance towards locally sourced materials.
Benchspace Cork is a co-making workshop located in Cork City. It was established to provide affordable access to workbenches and professional standard machinery for local furniture makers and designers, particularly to graduates and early career professionals. It was established as a company limited by guarantee (CLG) in 2017 and operates as not-for-profit social enterprise.
The bursary is open to:
Practicing artists, craft makers and designers in all disciplines who are currently living and working in the Cork County administrative area
Applicants should show significant achievement and/or potential in their chosen field
Applicants must demonstrate how undertaking the bursary placement will have a significantly impact on their professional practice
Applicants must be over 18 years
