Open Call | Flax Art Studios Curator in Residence, Belfast

Flax Art Studios are looking to support early career or freelance curators.

What they offer:

Flax will provide free workspace for two curators to use as a base as they develop their curatorial practice at our new home at Havelock House (former UTV Television Studios).

They will have the opportunity to work within and be part of their exciting new city centre studio space along with 50 contemporary visual artists, Emerging artist hub, large wood workshop, casting/plaster workshop, outside workplace, photographic studio, film studio, computer/Internet desk space, soundproof recording spaces and on-site secure carpark spaces.

In return they ask the curators to engage with Flax studio artists in curating a new programme of ‘Test Works’, In which artists and curators can utilise the building and an array of different spaces to test out new work ideas, screenings, performances, etc. This will cumulate in one-off events open to the public, helping us further support and promote contemporary visual art in Northern Ireland.

The curators are also welcome to develop their own projects engaging with the space.

Access: 8am to 8pm – 7 days a week
Duration: 6 months
