Limerick City Gallery, Carnegie Building, Pery Square, Limerick
Responding to the collection in 2017. Limerick City Gallery of Art invites expressions of interest from artists, curators from across all art forms at any stage of their career, with a connection to Limerick. This group exhibition will provide an opportunity to reflect on or create a critical response to the Permanent Collection in 2017.
2017 marks the 80th anniversary of the First Exhibition of Pictures which opened on Tuesday the 23rd of November 1937 at 3pm in the Savoy Cinema, opened by Dermod O’Brien. This event marked the official initiative to establish a municipal gallery space in Limerick City.
This project will open The Permanent Collection for reflection and a re-examining, offering artists and creative’s the opportunity to experiment, develop and display their ideas while creating an artistic re-examining, contextual or critical response. We invite creative’s to propose a method of reflection on the collection as it stands in 2017 in its use or relevance as a collection of art in Limerick now.
Applicants are required to submit, in a single PDF format:
• Detailed proposal and approach you wish to pursue in relation to the open call (max 250)
• Documentation of previous work
• Biography and CV.
• Other relevant information or links
**There will be a fee paid to all participating artists**
