Application deadline: 31 September.
Holy Show – a new print magazine of Irish life and arts – is currently seeking artists to fill the pages of issues 02 and 03.
Holy Show are interested in presenting or adapting art from a range of forms to the print medium. Whether its visual art projects, theatre scripts, film excerpts, dance pieces, documentaries or research projects, graphic narratives, photography or illustration, they’re looking for work that tells genuinely engaging stories about people, places or unusual or unlikely subject matter. (Or work about everyday subject matter presented in strange and wonderful ways.) A mixture of text and images is ideal, and collaborations with writers encouraged.
From literary writers, they’re interested in the possibility of non-fiction stories being set alongside, or written in collaboration with, art or artists working in other non-literary forms. No short stories or poetry please, and no academic writing.
Artist should be born or living in Ireland, or the work have some connection to Irish life. Other than that, Holy Show are curious about how you’d imagine filling 4–16 pages of a high-quality print magazine that has a broad readership and growing distribution.
Holy Show are particularly interested in work being produced, published, performed, screened or exhibited at some point in 2020, or that has yet to be produced.
Fees offered for publication. Payment to contributors for original work or commissions range between €50 and €250. Fees vary depending on the number of print pages filled and the nature of the work.
Send pdfs of finished work, or outlines of proposals in 50 to 200 words, with ‘Idea’ in the subject line. Please take a look at what went into issue 01 at holyshow.ie.
