Open Call | i-Portunus Mobility Funding for Artists in European Countries

Application deadline: 24 June.

i-Portunus is a pilot project that will test different approaches to supporting short-term mobility of artists and culture professionals between European countries.

The European Commission is considering the launch of a large-scale initiative to help individual artists and culture professionals “take advantage of flexible and short-term result-oriented opportunities”: to move between European countries*, develop audiences and collaborations, find new inspiration and opportunities, and fully benefit from – and contribute to – Europe’s diverse cultural ecosystems.

Between April and September 2019, the consortium** in charge of testing this new scheme will issue three calls, evaluate the proposals received, and support the mobility of selected artists and culture professionals (visual arts and performing arts***).

A first Call for Applications ran from 17th April to 15th May and resulted in over 1,200 valid applications being received. These were analysed and taken into account for the preparation of the second Call. The focus remains on two sectors: the Performing Arts (except music) and the Visual Arts, but it expands the scope and is open to group applications (up to 5 people) and segmented mobilities.

The next Call, to be issued on June 3rd 2019, is the second of three calls to financially support the mobility of artists and culture professionals of all ages, nationalities, educational qualifications and levels of experience, legally residing in a country participating in the Creative Europe programme.

i-Portunes mobility support intends to help you cover the expenses for your mobility (transport, accommodation, etc.). If selected you will receive a contract, which you will be requested to sign and upload to your i-Portunus account. In case you are selected you will receive 75% of the mobility support upon signing the contract. You can use that money to pay your expenses for the mobility. When your mobility has ended, they expect an activity report  within 2 weeks of the end of your mobility, and when you send it you will receive the remaining 25% of the mobility support. If the activity report has not been submitted within 6 weeks of the end of the mobility, the remaining 25% will not be paid. Since this is a pilot programme your feedback is improtant to us, and that’s why they ask for this activity report.
