PÚCA Festival has been commissioned by Fáilte Ireland, Meath Co. & Louth Co. Council – a new festival to celebrate the origins of Halloween and Ireland’s Ancient East as its birthplace. Taking over three towns from 31st Oct – 2nd Nov it will build on the counties existing events and create a new destination cultural spectacular of food, crafts, folklore, art and fun. The core public facing event will be created around Trim Castle – a light festival, procession, performance and music programme.
Curated Place are opening up an open call for artists based in Ireland (with a verifiable address) to exhibit their work at this year’s PÚCA Festival – existing artwork needs to be light-based, suitable for outdoor exhibition and robust enough to run for the duration of the festival. All opportunities to exhibit will be in and around the Trim Castle festival site.
The opportunities are as follows:
– 4 x €500
– 2 x €1000
– 1 x €2000
The fee will cover all artist’s costs with PÚCA Festival providing power to your site and security only. On successful installation and operation of work, each exhibiting artist will be eligible for 1 complimentary ticket allowing entry to the music elements of the festival. In addition, artists will be eligible for Curated Place’s future closed artist opportunities (internationally).
- Artwork / projects proposed for the festival must incorporate or interoperate the folkloric stories and traditions associated with Samhain (presence of the given theme).
- The work must be suitable for outdoor exhibition and robust enough to run for the duration of the festival.
- Display elements of surprise and adventure, visual and emotional experience, attraction and novelty.
- The price shall include all costs related to the realisation of the artwork, excluding travel and/or accommodation.
