Deadline: 27 April 2017
TIME TO CHANGE: Group Exhibition
Arts & Disability Forum (Belfast). Exhibition will take place from 16th May to 16th June 2017
NIMHAFF is a growing festival in its 4th year, set up to celebrate mental health, challenge stigma around it and fight inequalities. The creation and enjoyment of art contributes hugely to the recovery and thriving of many people who experience mental-health difficulties; our programme – including this group art exhibition at Belfast’s Arts & Disability Forum – will highlight and champion arts-driven wellbeing.
The 2017 festival theme is Time to Change: We invite visual artists – especially those who have experienced mental health issues – to submit artworks broadly exploring this theme. The chosen artworks will be part of a group show curated by artist Ciara O’Malley and Hugh O’Donnell, Outreach Arts Officer with the Arts& Disability Forum, with the help of an experienced panel.
Media: We’d love to see artwork from a range of visual media: drawing, paintings, sculpture, mixed media, film installation, photography, illustration, etc. Artists can submit up to three artworks.
Size: No specific limit, but gallery space will curtail the number of large pieces. Please state dimensions of art works in your submission, and any practical needs for displaying sculpture and other 3D work.
Costs will be covered for selected artists.
Submissions: Please send submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
• a brief statement (100-150 words) introducing yourself, your work and your interest in the exhibition
• image(s) of your artwork – up to three separate pieces, preferably as .jpg
