The Gallery of Photography is delighted to offer this new Photography Collage Workshop with visual artists Laura McMorrow and Helena Gouveia Monteiro of the collective Stereoeditions.
Using images ranging from the banal to the bizarre, we are offering a full day workshop giving participants the chance to create unique photo collages that defy reality.
This workshop will introduce students to concepts and techniques of collage art allowing them to work with photographic materials from books, magazines & photographs to create their own unique collages. Students will get a chance to challenge their visual and creative skills through image selection and experimentation with different aesthetic techniques.
Students will be introduced to the world of collage as seen in Dadaism, Surrealism and Conceptual Art and become familiar with the technical possibilities of collage that can be translated into music, literature, film and beyond.
The workshop will be split into two sessions with a break in between:
10am-12pm: Introduction to the exciting world of collage; everything from historic examples and styles to technical details and approach.
1pm-4.30pm: Students are introduced to materials and guided by the tutors to create their own unique collages.
All materials are provided and no prior experience is necessary.
