I am a Scottish born writer, researcher and visual artist, based in Co. Clare, Ireland. My work ranges in subject matter from a focus on the conditions and institutions of visual culture and the new paradigm of the culture industries, to transdisciplinary art and research practices in a pedagogical context.I am currently working on a durational socially engaged work with members of the travelling community.
I am undertaking a research PHD scholarship in Limerick School of Art and Design investigating creative collaboration and transdisciplinarity as key to new pedagogical methodologies across disciplines. I have a keen interest in digital futures of creative education.
I have also produced a number of works which deal with memory as a non linear process in grief induced by traumatic loss. I have produced a number of short films and I also write articles on art.
As an artist, what are the key challenges that you face on a daily basis?
I am a female, a mature PHD student, a parent and I live rurally in the west of Ireland. As far as the art world and its economies go, I may as well have leprosy.
What inspires you most about the county in which you live?
What is your top tip for fellow artists?
