Clare Langan in discussion with Cristín Leach, Art Critic, Writer, Broadcaster, and a special screening of the following films; ‘The Human Flock (2017)’, ‘Flight from the City (2016)’ and ‘River (2015)’ commission for permanent artwork at NUI Maynooth. Accompanying ‘River’ will be music curated by Gary Sheehan, Head of Programme Planning, National Concert Hall, Dublin.
Clare Langan was awarded an honorary Doctorate by NUI in 2017. Langan studied fine art at the National College of Art and Design. She was a Fulbright Scholar at New York University in 1992. One of Ireland’s leading artists, she has represented the country at a number of International Biennials, including Sao Paulo and Liverpool. Her work is represented in a number of Public and Private Collections including The Irish Museum of Modern Art, The Arts Council and The Office of Public Works. She is represented by Galerie Anita Beckers, Frankfurt.
Cristín Leech writes about art for The Sunday Times Ireland and regular contributor to arts programming on RTE radio and television. She is an occasional reporter for The Works on RTE One Television. In 2018 Cristín co-presented “Through the Canvas” an acclaimed 12-part series that explored new ways to talk about art on the radio.
This event coincide with the opening of Clare Langan exhibition, curated by Neva Elliott which features the Irish premiere of The Winter of 13 Storms (2017) and A Film Trilogy from the collection of the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
The exhibition runs from 23 March to 11 May, 2019.
