Stitching Sessions Workshop at Remote Photo Festival, Nerve Centre, Derry

STITCHING SESSIONS is a three hour bookbinding workshop taking place in the Nerve Centre in Derry/Londonderry as part of Remote Photo Festival 2017. This workshop will introduce participants to the craft of bookbinding.

During this workshop participants will learn about the different papers, materials and tools needed to create their own hand-bound books. Members of the RTI team will guide participants step-by-step through two bookbinding methods: the Singer-stitch and the Japanese stab-bind.

Workshop participants will leave with their own handmade notebooks and the knowledge and understanding of how to apply these binding techniques to their own book projects. The techniques taught can be used to create journals and notebooks, artist books and zines, and photobook dummies and maquettes. We will have a selection photobooks and artist publications on hand to show how these binding techniques are used within the world of art book and photobook design. Suitable for beginners, from artists to zinesters! All materials are included.
