Applications are now being sought for the MA Socially Engaged Art + Further Education for Autumn 2017 intake. This two year, Level 9, taught masters degree focuses on the dynamic relationship between socially engaged arts practice and pedagogy, particularly within further education, non-formal educational and community settings. Immersed in a trans-disciplinary space, students will develop their practices as educators within the Further Education sector as well as socially engaged practitioners. The programme is recognised by the Teaching Council of Ireland, on successful completion students are qualified to teach with further education settings.
Sites and spaces for engagement and learning are constantly evolving in response to multiple global, political and technological changes. Artists and educators inform and drive change through creative, reflective, and interventionist practices. Recognising the range of methodologies used in socially engaged practice that draw on educational concepts and forms and the important position of the FE sector in offering learning opportunities to diverse students locally, nationally and internationally, the MA SEA+FE is a site for experimental learning, skills acquisition and critical debate in this transdisciplinary field.
