We have seen an increase in calls for internships from a wide range of organisations. We have always been very careful, as with all of our listings, to filter them for what we can clearly identify as a definite opportunity. However, it is unfortunate that even with careful filtering we have received messages and telephone calls from both sides of the argument: 1. expressing dismay that we advertise and 2. expressing dismay that we won’t advertise those that don’t fit our guidelines on best practice for internships.
We have run a recent poll on Facebook which has shown that the majority feel that we should not advertise internships at all. A lesser number agree that we should advertise but only if the organisation clearly shows that they are following our best practice guidelines. and a minority feel that we should advertise them one way or another.
Clearly we can make a decision on this. But, we decided that we would put it out to you to have your say. So, we are asking you to vote in this poll. It will close September 27, 2015 @ 12:28 pm, and it will clearly inform our current policy on whether or not to advertise internships.
Note: This only refers to opportunities advertised as Internships. It does not affect opportunities that clearly state that they are volunteer positions.
