Do you struggle to lead a group discussion? Do you freeze up when you are put in front of a group? Do you want to keep a meeting focused, without being too bossy? How do you encourage the quiet ones, and manage the talkers? What should you do to avoid your group’s dynamic descending into conflict and chaos?
If these are your problems, we can help you learn tried and tested methodologies for facilitating groups.
Dave Dunn and Connect the Dots are partnering to deliver a training course to give ideas, processes, and practical tips for working with groups. This course aims to provide you with a fundamental grounding in group facilitation skills enabling them to act as a expert facilitator in a multitude of settings, including meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, strategic planning sessions, learning courses and more. It will be an experiential learning environment offering:
» thoughts and reflections on the key concepts of working with groups
» practical and pragmatic tools and methods
» and a self reflective space for the participants professional development
You might have homework.
Dave Dunn has been facilitating groups since 2007, mostly in leadership development and mental health / wellbeing interventions. Whilst he is strong in facilitating youth groups and young adults, he is not averse to the likes of strategic planning sessions, conferences, AGMs, and MC-ing open mic sessions. Dave Dunn also does other things: with creative events group Queens of Neon, runs a youth area with the EarthSong Camps in the summer months, is part the Dublin Flea Market, provides business and bookkeeping support to startup entrepreneurs and works at production in some festival events.
